Why the injury-plagued Redskins can pull off a win versus the 6-3 Texans

In probably one of the most unanticipated matchups between division leading teams, the Washington Redskins take on the Houston Texans this Sunday at 1 pm eastern.

This is an extremely nerve wracking matchup for all Redskins fans since it’s no secret that the team hasn’t been entirely convincing in their home matchups since moving to Fedex field in 1997. In fact, they’ve been so unconvincing that many players are giving away free tickets to fans this week just to hopefully fill the stadium and create a home field advantage for once!

All of this is not to mention the fact that the Redskins have been stricken with season-ending injuries to key players like Brandon Scherff, Paul Richardson, and Shawn Lauvao. They’ll also be without key playmakers Chris Thompson and Jamison Crowder.

With all these unfortunate things being said, there are a few reasons why Skins fans should be optimistic going into this weeks matchup. Although they’re facing an outrageously talented quarterback in Deshaun Watson, it’s evident that the Texans QB falters when hit and pressured, which is what the Redskins are the best in the league at. The offensive line held steady last week, and should be even better this week with Trent Williams’ potential return.

As long as the Skins defense can hold form and Alex Smith can continue to play relatively mistake-free football, this game should go in Washington’s favor and allow them to improve to 7-3 and an even stronger division lead.
